The run's uneven tail
The Whitebacks give Merehaven one more strong interval. They do not hold that strength evenly through the month.
Before each landing, Varo and Eska state the usable dry fuel, rack space, and handling labor. Toren's representative brings a specific crew plan that supports one higher-capacity day, and the accepted amount rises because the people and drying space are actually there.
The fish are counted until they are processed. The landing adds a useful amount to household needs and the common reserve without touching the fuel protected for warmth, cooking, and emergency use.
Later, movement weakens and the remaining usable fuel falls faster than the crews would like. Varo lowers the accepted amount. Toren argues that fish can still be found, but the earlier high day does not become an entitlement after its supporting capacity has changed. The crews shift rather than landing an unmanageable catch.
The stop preserves the value already taken. It also makes clear that the active run is ending unevenly, not at a single announced moment.
A council with an end condition
At the full-moon gathering, the six work groups choose or reaffirm their representatives and describe both the council's gains and its burdens. The gathering finds that common preservation, fuel protection, rescue readiness, and the final shared work still require coordination.
The council receives one final mandate through the active run. Its end is named: when the shared preservation surge ends, the council's coordinating authority expires and ordinary keepers resume their domains unless a later gathering creates something different.
The council still owns no household boat, net, vessel, store, or fishing site. Public burden statements and representative choice continue through its final work.
Matched observations with Rushhook
Safe invited visits allow Cal, Neri, companions, and a council witness to exchange the agreed observations with Rushhook. Each report names date, water condition, visible fish activity, juvenile signs, and the observation place.
The combined sequence is clearer than either community's isolated account. Rushhook continues to observe pale-backed movement near the outlet before Merehaven's later stronger activity. The matched records strengthen that sequence across the waters both communities actually visit.
They do not explain the whole lake. No fishing limit, access promise, labor exchange, alliance, or shared command is proposed or accepted. Any wider claim still returns home for a separate decision.
The damaged entry
Neri, Luma's observer, and a net worker continue the same local comparison. The closed cut-stake entry shows a slight improvement in juvenile signs during part of the month. Disturbed ground and a deficit against nearby water remain.
The observation is consistent with a place that may be recovering slowly. It does not identify who caused the earlier harm or show that the entry has returned to the comparison condition. The local closure therefore remains. No gear is cut, seized, or followed.
The secured boat
Cal keeps the multi-crew inventory and supervised checks in use. Younger observers increasingly recognize common lashing, paddle, bailer, and minor hull problems before launch.
Eska, the owning crew, Varo, and the material witness sort the reserve boat's list. Available ordinary material supports cleaning, drying, shaping, and several minor repair steps. The work gives apprentices useful practice and leaves the hull in better condition than before.
The remaining repair still requires critical cordage or structural material that would compete with rescue readiness, working boats, racks, or shelter. Those claims are not displaced. The reserve boat remains secured and unlaunched.
Merehaven has advanced a repair and spread maintenance knowledge. It has not created a new boat or a production craft.
What changed

- Recognize when the shared preservation surge has ended and let the council's mandate expire as stated.
- Protect the common reserve and remaining fuel after the run weakens.
- Continue matched observations only within the places and claims actually witnessed.
- Decide later whether critical reserve-boat material merits displacing another protected use.
- Keep the local inlet closure under review without converting recovery evidence into an accusation.
