Warm stores

Nessa's regular inspections catch trouble before the common account can hide it.

One early lot is warmer than the others and shows insects near the center. Because its source is still known, it is moved without disturbing sound stores. Wen repairs the rack edge and airflow around it. A small visibly damaged portion is removed; the rest dries and remains usable.

The loss is modest, but Nessa records it plainly. The sound seed reserve stays sealed. No ordinary shortfall is repaired by taking from it.

Tamm gives the dampest homes and store workers priority for screens, raised bedding, clean storage, and safe water. Insects and wet heat remain an active burden, but no new channel is cut toward a spring and no work crew is allowed to make the risk worse.

Grain by readiness

The later crop does not mature as one field.

Several plots become ready and are brought in through the witnessed rotation. Their grain is dried, checked, and recorded by source before it enters protected stores.

A thunderstorm lays part of another strip down before the household would otherwise have taken it. Nessa and Ilya judge that waiting risks a larger loss. The household brings that portion in early. Its lower quality is recorded separately rather than blended into the sound account.

Much of the main grain remains standing for late summer. Hazelstead has more protected food and a more honest harvest account, not a completed harvest.

The removable trial

Beren leads the small approach trial after Ilya and the household witness mark the exclusions. No tree is felled. The crew clears only the authorized obstruction and managed regrowth needed to test access.

In dry conditions, the approach is usable. Beren's record shows the people-days, hand tools, and maintenance it requires. After the storm, runoff crosses one marked section and begins to carry water toward softer ground. Ilya calls the stop. The crew withdraws without widening the path or creating a field claim.

Beren and Ilya report together. The site remains plausible, but the trial has exposed a real drainage and maintenance cost. It has not authorized an axe, a household allocation, or permanent clearing.

The ridge-side conduct

Juniper Fold sends no new permanent proposal this month. The absence of a message changes nothing.

Both sides continue the conduct already witnessed: no cutting, no removed or added signs, and use of the named path only within the recognized behavior. Hazelstead's record still separates that conduct from title, boundary, compensation, and permanent access.

What changed

• One warm, insect-affected store pocket is isolated with only a small recorded loss.
• Several newly ready plots and one storm-threatened lower-quality portion are harvested by source.
• Much of the main grain remains in the field; the seed reserve remains sealed.
• The dry-site trial demonstrates a usable dry-weather approach and a real storm-runoff cost.
• No tree is felled and no field, ownership, or permanent access is created.

Matters requiring attention

• Watch the remaining grain through late-summer weather and keep readiness decisions plot-specific.
• Decide whether the dry-site runoff cost can be addressed without threatening springs, harvest labor, or protected woodland.
• Keep the reserve separate until the harvest and future planting position are clearer.
• Preserve the distinction between peaceful conduct and unresolved title.
